Accompanying on violin 2

A student who has completed the unit is expected to

• be thoroughly conversant with playing a drone accompaniment and on using open fifths, triads and seventh chords
• be familiar with rhythmically and technically more challenging elements of accompaniment
• be able to accompany easy folk music pieces
• be able to improve their skills further with the instrument independently

The unit is an online tuition unit which is to be completed independently in the Moodle learning environment. The unit explores how to accompany music on the violin, using text, video and audio recordings and sheet music.

• The prerequisites course for this unit is S-FM77_24 Accompaniment on fiddle 1
• The unit is available to all students with any main subject
• The unit is also available through Open university
• No previous familiarity with folk music is required.
• The unit is intended for violinists and anyone else who can play a violin.

Open University applicants:
At least 3 places will be offered to the Open University. The course requires at least a basic advanced level of proficiency in one's instrument, and student must have completed the course Accompanying on violin 1. Open University participants will be selected for the course based on the order of registration.
