Introduction to Operations Management

No prerequisites.

In the course, students will develop a basic understanding of real-world operations and of their importance to any kind of organization. By the end of the course students should be able to describe the elements and processes of a company's operations, and understand the key concepts, principles, and relationships between them, that support operational processes. More specifically: 1. Understanding real-world operations and their management and the concepts and principles that support them. 2. Applying key concepts and principles of operations management to the analysis of specific processes within companies and other organizations. 3. Understanding how external changes and trends can impact the operational processes of organizations. Additionally, the course develops: - problem-solving and decision-making (application of knowledge to problems), - analytical and critical thinking (assessment and interpretation of knowledge), and - ethics, responsibility and sustainability (recognizing and evaluating responsible and sustainable action).
