Kurssin ohjelmointikielenä on JavaScript. Kurssin avainsisältöjä ovat vihreä ohjelmointi, ohjelmakoodin ympäristövaikutuksia parantavat ohjelmointikäytännöt, ja ohjelmakoodin optimointi. Lisäksi käydään lävitse hiilijalanjäljen muodostuminen ohjelmistoissa, energiankulutuksen mittaaminen, energiatehokkaiden ohjelmistojen suunnittelu ja digitaalisten ratkaisujen vaikutus hiilikädenjälkeen. Opiskelijalta edellytetään teorian opiskelun lisäksi kurssin alusta asti jatkuvaa, itsenäistä käytännön harjoittelua.
