Samhället och sociala relationer (antropologi)
Fr.o.m.
5 sp
How do social relations work in different parts of the world, how are they constructed, and how have they changed over time? The course describes different kinds of social groups and diverse forms of social relations from around the world, but it particularly focuses on kinship.
Students will learn to discuss how social relations both transform and are transformed by processes of societal change. By the end of the course, students will be able to put many contemporary issues related to social relations and society in perspective – these include ‘rainbow family’ adoption and fostering, diverse forms of friendship, nationalism, DNA testing, questions of inheritance for diversely related people, debates over new reproductive technologies, and even a study of the mafia as a social form.
