The course introduces the concepts, measurements and trends related to population health and health inequalities between population groups. The lectures in this course will examine population health and health inequalities from a variety of perspectives, linking them to social phenomena and contemporary challenges such as population aging, medical care advancement, mental health problems and suicide, child mortality, social stratification, intersectionality, migration, and COVID-19. The course is suitable for all students keen on understanding health patterns, inequalities, and their underlying causes and how they relate to population structures, changes, and dynamics more generally. The course is organised as on-site lectures. The course also includes the writing of two final essays on the topic of your chosen lectures. Lecturers provide reading and additional material during the course. The course is held in English.
