Interaction Design Fundamentals

The course introduces students to the fundamentals of interaction design, including usability, user experience, accessibility, and semiotic analysis, which means how design works between the human mind and the user interface. During the course, students familiarize themselves with the core concepts, theories and basic methods used in researching and developing the interaction between humans and technology in various contexts. These contexts include e.g. computers, mobile devices and embedded (internet of things) systems as well as artificial intelligence, robotics and games. After completing the course, students will know what interaction design is, its different areas, the critical and ethical questions related to interaction design, and what interaction design means as a professional field.
Lectures on the principles, key concepts and questions of interaction design and user-centeredness. Online analysis tasks to support the lectures. Individual and group work.
