The course gives an overview of the Finnish and European economy, with emphasis on recent development in economic growth, competitiveness and economic integration. The course will also examine the development of the Finnish and European economy in a wider, global perspective, and explain key economic concepts like gross domestic product, economic growth and economic policy.
Visiting lecturer is Christer Lindholm, Åbo Akademi University.

The student will learn to understand key economic developments in Finland and Europe, and how the process of European economic integration has affected key economic variables like growth, employment and competitiveness. The student will also gain an insight into the possibilities and limitations of economic policy in an increasingly integrated world economy, and become familiar with the most important macroeconomic concepts.
