Electric Power Distribution and Electricity Markets

After completing the course the student will be able to describe the different options for developing electricity distribution networks, their effects and the factors to be considered in the design, incl. technical dimensioning of the wires, the student is able to calculate the power outage indices and interruption costs of a radial network, the student can use the annuity and present value method to calculate the various costs of network investments and to evaluate the profitability, and in addition, he / she is able to explain the effects of distributed generation on network design and operation, and is familiar with the provisions for commissioning and periodic inspections of the electricity distribution network, the regulation model governing the electricity grid business, and operators and business models related to electricity networks and markets.

The course develops digital skills (use of special software), and problem solving and decision making skills (exercises).
