Python for Systems Intelligence and Analytics

MATH1170 Probability and Statistics or equivalent

The course introduces modern systems/business intelligence and data analytics by using python programming language. The students will learn python programming to facilitate systems/business intelligence and data analytics. The course covers basics of python programming.

The learning outcome of this course is that the students will be able to collect, analyze and visualize different system/organizational data to the tangible insights by using python programming language which will lead to better decision making and improve overall system/business performance.

After the course completion:

• The student can code python programming language fluently in different types of environments.
• The student is able collect data from multiple internal and external sources by using python programming language.
• The student will learn to organize and clean collected data from unstructured form to a structured form by using python programming language.
• The student learns to transform this structured data into tangible insights by using python programming language, its external libraries, and Microsoft Power BI.
• The student can visualize, represent, and report those insights in an easily understandable form.
• The student will also learn to make data-driven decisions which can lead to better organizational decision making and improved system/organizational performance.

In addition, the course will develop:

• Problem solving and decision-making skills (programming problem solving and informed decision making)
• Analytical and critical thinking (evaluation and interpretation of information)
• Communication skills: presentation skills (including visualisation of information)
• Digital skills (programming skills and data analysis tools)
