Place-based management research project

This course is part of advanced studies in Master´s programme, which requires final stage bachelor's studies. Bachelor's thesis should be finalised before attending the course.

The course has three key learning objectives:

1. The student is able to carry out a research project in a small group step by step (research plan, data collection and analysis, reporting results, and communicating with stakeholders).
2. The student can utilize the key theories of regional science, development, and leadership as part of the research project implementation.
3. Project management skills: after the course, the student can work in a project and project group autonomously and collaboratively. The student masters project planning, scheduling, communication, and implementation.

The course deepens the mastery of the following common learning objectives of the major in Public Policy and Management: the ability to analyze and interpret public administration and its operating environment from the perspective of organizations and regions; the ability to lead organizations, regions, and networks based on knowledge and aiming for sustainability; and the ability to develop the operations of organizations, regions, and networks considering their specific characteristics. Additionally, the student develops problem-solving and interaction skills as well as digital skills. In terms of sustainable development, the goal is to learn to promote economic, social, and environmental connections between regions and partnerships between the public and private sectors and civil society.
