Basic Mathematics for Technical Sciences

After the course, the student will be able to perform addition and multiplication of matrices, recognize symmetric matrices, and understand the concepts of matrix transposition and inverse matrices. The student will grasp the concept of a system of linear equations, be familiar with the Gaussian elimination method, and use it to study the solvability of the system, solve the system, and calculate the inverse matrix. The student will understand the concept of a determinant and its basic properties, and will be able to calculate determinants. The student will comprehend the connection between determinants and the solvability of systems of equations and will be able to solve systems of equations using Cramer's rule. The student will be introduced to analytical geometry and will be able to calculate the dot product of vectors, the angle between vectors, the cross product, and the scalar triple product. The student will be familiar with the concepts of a line and a plane, and will be able to calculate the orthogonal projection of a vector onto another vector, as well as the distance from a point to a plane and a line.
