After the course, students know the most central functions and operational principles of the operating systems. Students understand the basic problems and limitations of the operating systems, are familiar with the basic structure of the computer and the operating system and understand their functions, students under-stand the hierarchy and interactions between the computer hardware, the operating systems and the programme layers. The course develops analytical and problem-solving skills and supports the capacity of life-long learning as well as the skill to follow the development in computers and operating systems together with research in data processing sciences.
