Introduction to Cyber Management

After taking the course, students will gain a broad understanding of cyber systems and digitalization, including key concepts such as information systems, information technology, operational technology, business continuity, social media, emerging technologies, and more. They will understand the role of management in digital and cyber-enabled environments, including common tools and frameworks, and be able to explain what is meant by cyber management, how to handle data responsibly, and how to recognize related risks.
The course develops students’ intellectual skills, helping them make decisions in digital contexts and think critically about the opportunities and challenges of cyber-enabled systems. Through presented case studies and practical examples, students will learn to assess risks, understand system interactions, and make informed choices that balance technological, human, and organizational considerations.
The course fosters transferable skills and interpersonal abilities through discussions, activities, and case studies. It emphasizes responsibility and the practical use of digital tools to support both organizational and societal goals. Students will acquire foundational digital skills, preparing them to engage confidently and responsibly with cyber systems, digital transformation initiatives, and emerging technologies.

Handouts and selected articles and book chapters will be distributed along the course to cover all the topics and diverse content.
