The course explores EU institutions and decision-making as well as key concepts of European law. The course provides the ability to find and use European law in their own study or work assignments. The course helps to understand the importance of European law in domestic decision-making and administration. The contents to be learned focus on the field of public law.

Key content areas include:

the main features of the EU legal system,
key concepts and principles of EU law,
the position of member states as part of the Union,
European administrative law, and
the main institutions of the European Union and their tasks.

Participants will learn to identify the institutions of the European Union and their role in the development and formation of European legislation and policy. Additionally, they will understand the position of member states and citizens within the European Union. Participants will learn to search for official EU documents from Union systems to support legal decision-making and follow the development of Union legislation from legislation to court decisions. Participants will recognize the differences between the EU legal system and the national legal system and understand the impact of EU law on national law.

The course deepens the mastery of the following common learning objectives of the major in Public Law: the ability to evaluate public activities from a legal perspective and the ability to solve legal interpretation issues encountered in working life and identify relevant legal sources. Additionally, the student will develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills. In terms of sustainable development, the goal is to learn to develop effective, responsible, and transparent institutions at all levels.
