Big Data Analytics for Accounting and Finance

Students begin with the essentials of Python including data types, conditional statements, loops, functions, and sequences before moving into scientific computing tools such as NumPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib. Once foundational skills are established, the module transitions into real-world accounting and finance applications.
The module integrates quantitative techniques with practical implementation using Python. Students will apply programming skills to:
• Analyze financial and accounting data
• Calculate and interpret risk and return
• Perform regression analysis for forecasting techniques (Accounting and Finance)
• Apply the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM)
• Evaluate investment performance using Sharpe ratios
• Conduct Monte Carlo simulations and risk analysis
• Optimize portfolios using the Markowitz Efficient Frontier framework
