Paramedicine for Pregnancy, Childbirth and Gynecological Patients

Participants are expected to possess competencies equivalent to those of a registered paramedic or advanced-level paramedic.

In this self-paced online course, you will strengthen your competence in assessing and managing obstetric and gynecological patients in prehospital emergency care.

After completing the course, the student
• is able to independently assess the condition of an obstetric or gynecological patient and initiate appropriate care
• is able to recognize obstetric and gynecological emergencies and act accordingly
• is able to manage out-of-hospital childbirth safely for both the mother and the newborn
• is able to provide care for a newborn infant and a woman who has given birth
• is able to anticipate clinical developments and prepare patients for safe transport to further care

The course is delivered fully online and can be completed independently at the student's own pace. There are no face-to-face teaching sessions or scheduled online meetings. Submitted assignments are reviewed and assessed during the first week of every even-numbered month.
