How can we identify reliable information? How do algorithms affect what we see online? The course introduces the key areas of information literacy: identifying information needs, acquiring and evaluating information, and using information responsibly. The course strengthens understanding of the nature of information and information sources. In addition, the course provides an overview of the concept of information literacy, its definitions, and its social significance.

Students will learn to recognize phenomena and concepts related to information literacy and apply this understanding to identifying information needs and acquiring, evaluating, and using information responsibly. Students will develop their ability to analyze, evaluate, and use information critically and ethically.
