The course provides an overview of the Finnish economy and economic history, its current state and future development. The course deals with the activities of the Finnish economy and development, such as globalization, economic growth, financial sustainability of public sector and general economic policy.
Lectures will include the following themes
- The Finnish economy from the late 1800s until today
- Productivity and economic growth
- Economic globalisation and Finland
- Public economics and challenges of welfare state
- Labour markets
- Regional development and regional policy in Finland
