Development of Language and Communication: Stages of the Language Development of Children (OPEN UNIV)

Language development in interaction, description of the typical development of the different areas of language, description of the linguistic development of bilingual and multilingual children. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to describe the development of different aspects of language and the progression of development in typically developing children. The student will also be able to describe the language development of bilingual and multilingual children and identify the role of culture and language environment in the acquisition of language, speech and communication skills. In addition, students will be able to identify basic concepts and terms related to different aspects of language and to search for and use scientific information. They will be able to consciously use their interpersonal skills in a constructive, respectful and collaborative way.
