After completing the course, the student will know:

• concepts and basics of metabolism
• reaction pathways of energy metabolism, their interconnection and regulation
• molecular mechanisms of energy metabolism
• basics about the connection of energy metabolism to biosynthetic and decomposition reactions
• how apply this knowledge in terms of normal physiology and diseases

Text and video materials. The learning material is distributed in the Moodle online environment.

Additional information
If the student aspires to and is accepted as a degree student in the biochemistry degree program at the University of Oulu, the completion of the course as such is accepted as part of the course Metabolism I (6 credits). In this case, however, the studies are supplemented with laboratory and other exercises for another 2 credits.
