Battery recycling chemistry and ecosystems

Prerequisites and co-requisites:
The recommended prerequisite is the completion of the following courses: Physical chemistry I and II.

Recommended optional programme components:
The course is an independent entity and does not require additional studies carried out at the same time.

The student will learn the basic knowledge of the battery recycling and ecosystems. The student understands the chemistry of pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical processes for battery recycling. Mechanical recycling is also studied. Further, student will learn how to improve battery recycling from sustainable chemistry viewpoint. The student will familiarize also legislation related to battery recycling, and some recent industrial activities are presented.

The course is held in the spring semester, during the period 4. It is recommended to complete the course at the 4th or 5th autumn semester.
