Participatory Research Partnership in Rehabilitation
The publication provides concrete tools for implementing a participatory research process in which the various partners involved in the research — such as rehabilitees and their family members and rehabilitation professionals — work together as equal partners. The publication presents the Participatory Research Partnership model, its starting points, and development process. The model describes cooperation at all stages of the research process, including developmental and ethical evaluation.

The publication is intended for rehabilitation researchers, developers, professionals, and anyone interested in participatory and multi-voiced research processes. It also provides useful information for rehabilitees and their family members.
By reading this publication, you will learn:
• What is the model of Participatory Research Partnership model and what phases does it include?
• What values, principles, and concrete practices are required to build collaboration in research?
• How the different phases of the research process can be carried out in a participatory, equitable, and ethical manner.
• How the research results can be made accessible and useful in everyday life.
You will learn how you can develop the research activities of your work community or project to be more participatory and impactful. The model and its tools can be used in practical development work and in the planning of research projects.
The publication includes six templates through which you can apply the model in your own research project. The templates contain interactive sections consisting of text- and image boxes to be filled in. To do this you have to open the PDF-file with
Adobe Acrobat Reader -program. To add an image, you need to be in PC or Mac-environment.
It takes approximately 60–90 minutes to read this publication, depending on your background and how thoroughly you study the examples and templates.
This publication is part of training programs in rehabilitation, social and health care, and, more broadly, research methods and development work. It is also suitable as support for theses and projects.
