After completing the course the student

• can calculate probabilities of events using operations from set theory
• knows most common probability distributions and can model various situations using them
• is able to calculate characteristics, marginal distributions, and check for independence given the joint distribution of discrete random variables
• can use properties and calculation rules for distribution characteristics (e.g. expected value, variance) and can calculate them from a given distribution.
• is able to use methods for statistical parameter estimation
• can do a hypothesis test and reach the correct conclusion based on the test's p-value
