Basic studies
- This course introduces students to the basics of microbiology, including microscopy and cell morphology, bacterial and archaeal cell structure, microbial growth and nutritional requirements, energy metabolism, microbial classification and the study of microbial communities, their occurrence in the environment and human interaction with them.- It will deepen students' understanding of the role of microbes in biological processes, material cycling, biotechnology and pathogenicity.
