Purpose of the course
The operating environment of companies has changed rapidly, as has communication, which has undergone a major transformation. Communication now takes place in a digital, networked, and transparent environment, where information spreads quickly and mistakes can have significant reputational, security, and financial consequences. At the same time, stakeholders—such as employees, customers, authorities, and the media—expect companies to act responsibly, ethically, and transparently also in their communication.
Communication has become a central element of corporate security and risk management. Responsible communication supports anticipation, helps prevent risks, and strengthens organizational resilience. Companies must be able to communicate about responsibility, sustainability, and security in a credible and consistent manner, avoiding greenwashing or discrepancies between actions and messages.

Sustainable Development: You are able to apply knowledge of sustainable development and future scenarios as a comprehensive foundation for sustainable solutions.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, you understand the importance of communication and interaction in managing safety situations and strengthening organizational resilience. You are familiar with the principles of responsible communication from the perspective of promoting safety. You recognize the role of stakeholders and the impacts of communication in building trust and developing a safety culture.

The course content is based on the content of the course Corporate Social Responsibility ( YHOOCL66), which is part of the Master’s Degree Programme in Hospitality Management.
