The course builds on the Finnish skills acquired in the course Finnish 3 or similar skills (A2.2). In this course, you will enhance your communication skills, allowing you to participate more independently in various discussions within your community and in service encounters. We will explore, write, and read both informal and formal work-related texts, such as job applications, and discuss more advanced and abstract topics such as Finnish working life, history, and culture. The course will also focus on expressing conditional events, recounting past events, and developing fluency in both writing and speaking. In addition, we will continue to practice strategic language learning skills and promote independent language learning. The target level of the course is B1.

After completing the course, you will be able to:

communicate, take part in conversations, and express your opinions and feelings quite easily in everyday communication situations.
discuss and express well-founded opinions on topics related to the themes of the course (e.g., working life, history and culture of Finland and your own country, and other abstract subjects).
follow the main points and some details of clear and almost standard-paced general language speech or written text.
read and write factual texts and both formal and informal messages related to the topics covered in the course
write a CV, create a video CV, and a job application in Finnish.
pronounce Finnish in such a way that your pronunciation rarely causes problems of comprehension.
recognize the different tenses (including the passive voice) and sentence types in texts and speech, and use most of them yourself.
assess your own language skills and have ways to develop them in many ways outside the course.
