The course builds on the Finnish skills dealt with in the course Finnish 2 or similar skills (A2.1). In this course, you will continue practising and participating more independently in different discussions in your community and in different service encounters. We will discuss, write and read texts on the topics covered in the course (such as Finnish working life, holidays and customs). We will practice telling about conditional events and different events in the past develop fluency. We will also continue to practise strategic language learning skills and promote skills for independent language learning. Target level of the course is A2.2.

After completing the course, you will be able to:

cope reasonably well with a wide range of everyday communication situations.
read and write short, simple factual texts related to the topics covered in the course, like working life
understand texts using different tenses and tell about events in the past using different tenses.
describe your educational and professional history and career plans
discuss and express your opinions on issues related to the topics covered in the course.
recognise plural forms of nominals in texts and speech and use them to some extent yourself
understand speech and text about conditional events, ask politely and tell about conditional events
pronounce Finnish fairly accurately
know the basics of Finnish working life and visiting habits
be familiar with Finnish holidays and customs and explain the celebrations and customs of your own culture
know how to develop your language skills outside the course
