German Pronunciation - Online Course (CEFR A1.1)

KK-SAK002 German 1, or corresponding skills

NB! Students should take the course near the start
of their German studies, after some initial exposure to the language’s sounds
and intonation.

After completing the course, students will

• Be proficient in the basics of German pronunciation
• Understand the key differences between the Finnish and German sound systems
• Be familiar with the distinctive features of German pronunciation, including the different ‘s’ sounds, vowel and consonant length, and diphthongs
• Identify word stress and intonation in speech.

The teacher’s own electronic course material in the course’s Moodle area.

Completion methods

The course is studied online independently and requires 27 hours of work.

Students must participate regularly and actively and complete the set spoken assignments on time.

Assessment methods and criteria

Assessment
is based on the learning outcomes and covers regular and active
participation, feedback from the teacher and self-assessment. The teacher will
give further details about the spoken assignments required for the course.

Target groups

The course is available to students at CEFR level A1.1 or higher(Opens in a new tab) from any faculty, including international students.

It may also be offered through open university education.
