Intermediate studies

The course describes the legal foundation of official control. The focus is on the presentation of the character and content of the Criminal Code and other norms regulating control (child protection, control of educational institutions, private security companies). The course also covers the legislation related to the Police Act, the Criminal Investigation Act, the Coercive Measures Act and other laws regulating the implementation of criminal sanctions. The main focus of the course is in the description of valid legislation from the perspective of law as a discipline.

After completing the course, students will be proficient in the basics of the normative basis of the official control system, with an emphasis on the Criminal Code, but covering also other forms of legal regulation related to official control. The aim is that students achieve knowledge of valid control rights, recognition of its key legal principles, overview of the legal process as well as the legal preparation of control rights and an understanding of the legislative process. After completing the course, students will also possess an overview of, among other things, the legal foundation of official control (child protection, control of educational institutions, private security companies). The course also teaches the basics of how basic rights and EU legislation affect the legal regulation of control. After completing the course, students will know how to find and describe valid legal regulation within the domain of criminological research.
