Chinese 8 - Pre-Intermediate (CEFR A2.2)

Starting level CEFR A2.2(Opens in a new tab). Students should have acquired a vocabulary of around 1050 words along with a solid foundation in grammar.

Upon completing the course, students are expected to be able to:

• master approximately 150 new words and characters.
• communicate in conversations on common topics related to daily life, study, and social activities, using moderately advanced vocabulary and sentence structures.
• compose longer passages of approximately 400 words.
• gain a deeper understanding of the Chinese language, culture, and society.
• use common expressions covered in the course content.

HSK Standard Course 4B textbook and workbook (Chapters 16–20), authored by Jiang Liping, along with additional materials prepared by the instructor.

Completion methods

The course includes 81 hours of work. There are several completion methods for this course. See the specific information on the course page. To complete the course, at least 75% active participation and the completion of the agreed tasks by the deadline are required.

Assessment practices and criteria

Assessment is based on class participation, the completion of group and individual assignments, and performance in presentations or an examination.

Activities and methods in support of learning

Classroom activities include listening, reading, and writing exercises, oral practice in pairs and groups, and independent work with assignments and online materials.
