The course
- Discusses the main features of Finnish educational history and recent major changes in education policy
- Examines factors influencing the activities, transformation and continuity of educational institutions
- Explores the basics of educational philosophy
- Discusses the connection between educational institutions and society as well as the individual, structural and institutional manifestation of discrimination, racism and injustice
- Discusses current critical theories, encourages students to reflect critically on their position as teachers and on the culture of educational institutions, and provides tools for challenging and dismantling practices that produce inequality from the perspective of gender-sensitive, antiracist and norm-critical pedagogy.
- Discusses the construction of learners’ identity and the development of active agency in the educational and school environment
