Digital Media and Society

PVK-V130, PVK-V160 (previously PVK-V150).

After completing the course, students will be able to describe the special characteristics of digital media, communication networks and social media, as well as understand key research concepts related to them. They will be able to identify development trends in digital production, distribution and use, as well as their impact on social and cultural practices. Students will be able to explain how networked and interactive media are being used in various sectors of society and everyday life.

Osallistuminen opetukseen: Luento-opetus ja harjoitustehtävät tai luentokuulustelu. Opintojakso voidaan tarjota myös avoimena yliopisto-opetuksena. The completion methods will be specified in the teaching programme.

Target groups
Luento-opetus on tarkoitettu ensisijaisesti viestinnän opintosuunnan opiskelijoille ja ohjelman vaihto-opiskelijoille, jos kurssin opetuskieli on englanti. Muiden opintosuuntien ja ohjelmien opiskelijat voivat osallistua, jos kurssilla on tilaa.

The course is part of the optional intermediate studies under the Study Track in Media and Communication.
