Cyber Security Base: Securing Software

The course has the following prerequisites:

• Cyber security base: Introduction to Cyber Security is recommended.
• Completing the course requires completing several mandatory programming exercises in Python.

Upon completing the course the student will be able to

• explain the principles of developing web applications,
• create basic web applications,
• identify typical security issues that are related to such applications,
• explain how such issues are discovered and mitigated.

The course material consists of

• online material (https://cybersecuritybase.mooc.fi/(Opens in a new tab)), and
• several external online materials (articles, videos). These links are specified in the course material.

Completion methods

Grading is based on the online essays, quizzes, and programming exercises.

Assessment practices and criteria

The grading scale is pass/fail.

Completing programming exercises, quizzes, and essays will reward points. Students must obtain 85% of total points to pass the course.

The course is a MOOC course with the study material available online.

A support channel (online chat) is provided.
