General and Physical Chemistry

After completing the course, students will be able to:

1. Explain how the electronic structure of atoms determines the structure of the periodic table.
2. Identify strong and weak chemical interactions and know the most important types of chemical bonds.
3. Write chemical reaction equations and apply them in calculations.
4. Apply the basic concepts of chemical thermodynamics and determine whether a chemical reaction occurs spontaneously.
5. Solve problems related to chemical equilibrium, especially acid-base equilibrium and buffer solutions.
6. Explain the significance of chemical compounds and interactions in molecular biology.
