Students who have completed a 15 cr language programme,
have a diversified knowledge of the Spanish language, culture and society and
can communicate fluently in everyday and professional situations.
Target group
Students of all University of Helsinki faculties. Students with a flexible study right (JOO). The course can also be offered as an open university course.
Timing
You can begin to pursue the language studies to be included in the language programme from the beginning of your studies. If you start studying Spanish from the basics, you should reserve at least 1.5 academic years for the 15 credits. NB! All courses are not necessarily arranged every year.
Contents
15 cr language programme should include:
at least one CEFR B1/B2 level course (2-4 cr)
at least one of the following oral skills courses (2-4 cr): Speaking and Writing Spanish 3 (CEFR A2), ALICE - Academic Language and Intercultural Exchange (Spanish - Finnish/Swedish) (CEFR A2), Curso prático sobre cultura y actualidad de los países latinoamericanos (CEFR B1) or Curso oral - Oral Skills in Spanish (CEFR B2).
UH Language Language Centre exemption test: Foreign language studies: Spanish (CEFR B1)
Spanish language and cultural courses completed at foreign (e.g. in Erasmus-exchange) or Finnish higher education institutions. The transfer of credits should be negotiated with the coordinating teacher Mirjami Matilainen
previous UH Language Centre Spanish courses at the coordinating teacher’s discretion and within the expiry of studies rules.
All courses are not necessarily arranged every year.
Completion methods
The course is completed by attending courses at the Language Centre and possibly also by attending courses at other universities in Finland or abroad. The language programme must include the compulsory courses mentioned in the Contents section, otherwise the courses can be chosen freely. The language programme will be approved once all the required modules have been completed.
Assessment practices and criteria
The programme will be assessed on a pass/fail basis. The assessment of each course included in the programme is based on its own learning outcomes.
