After completing the module, students will know the basic concepts of criminology and the key theoretical traditions, as well as how to delineate and define a research question. They will possess a good understanding of the special methodological challenges and solutions of research on crime and its control. They will understand that the official control of criminality is based on legislation, and they will possess good knowledge of the legal norms regulating official control. After having completed the course, students will have a clear perception of criminology as an empirical discipline studying crime and reactions related to it.
