Completion methods
There are several completion methods for the course; see the group-specific information for a particular group. Completion methods include contact learning, blended courses, online courses, ALMS courses, and the exemption test.
Courses based on contact learning include 48 contact hrs and 60 hrs of independent work. Blended, online and ALMS courses include 108 hours of work and may include some contact learning.
Depending on the completion method, the course consists of in-class, online and independent work, as well as individual meetings with the teacher. The in-class sessions include individual, pair and group work. The tasks required include oral and written assignments.
The Language Centre requires 75% active participation in courses based on contact learning and completion of the agreed tasks by the deadline; 90% active participation in in-class sessions of blended/online courses and completion of the agreed tasks by the deadline; 100% active participation in in-class sessions of ALMS courses and completion of the agreed tasks by the deadline.
Assessment practices and criteria
Assessment is based on the learning outcomes. Passing the course requires active participation and completion of the agreed tasks by the deadline.
The course uses peer, self- and teacher evaluation.

This course completely fulfils the foreign language requirement in the degree.
This course may be offered as an Open University course.
