Students • understand the organisation and delivery of social services and healthcare and the legislation that governs the activities • understand the role of the church sector, the third sector and civil society in the organisation of key services in the social, health and church sectors • understand the role and rights of the customer/patient in the service systems in the social, health and church sectors • understand the importance of diversity, multiculturalism, the customer’s life history and solicitude as the basis for interaction and the patient care relationship • develop an open-minded approach to work that is culturally sensitive and respectful of customers’ beliefs • understand the principles of sustainable development in the service systems of the social, health and church sectors
