Prior education: Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Science, or equivalent university degree.

The degree has to be in one of the following (or highly related) fields: environmental engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering.

Completing the Open University’s Master's pathway studies allows you to apply for a Master of Science degree programme at Tampere University. By completing a specific Master's pathway through the Open University, you can apply for admission to the corresponding degree programme at Tampere University. Each pathway is linked to a particular programme, and eligibility is limited to that programme only.

Application period for Master's route studies in the academic year 2025-2026 begins on 30 June 2025 at 10.00 and ends 13 July 2025 at 23.59 (UTC+2).

Students applying for degree programmes from the open university route are required to have a Bachelor’s-level degree in a suitable field of study. Applicants must prove their eligibility and send in their degree certificate with necessary attachments as they apply for route studies. Only applications received during the application period will be reviewed.

All courses must be completed during a single academic year. Students on the MSc route can apply for the right to study in the degree programme their route studies have followed. A student may be admitted for degree studies after completing the route studies in the required schedule and according to the requirements of the degree programme. Please note that the credits should be visible in the student register on 15 June 2026 in order to be taken into account.
