The course handles the questions "how does a company function and how does it succeed?”. The themes are the different business models and strategies of companies; company functions, internal processes, management systems and resources such as expertise; the company's operations in networks and various operating environments. Strategic management, management work and human resource management are particularly emphasized. The course introduces the basic concepts and theories of the subject areas, as well as practical examples and current challenges and development trends. The examination emphasizes the managerial perspective, the examined success factors and the value basis of responsible business practice.

Upon completing the course, the student will understand the fundamental principles of business and how management techniques can be used to guide and develop business operations. Through the course, the student will perceive a company as a holistic system, recognize different business logics, and be able to integrate knowledge from various disciplines. By the end of the course, the student will have mastered the basic concepts of management and organizations, particularly from the perspectives of strategic management and human resource management. They will be familiar with various approaches, schools of thought, and methodologies related to these areas. Additionally, the course enhances the student's understanding of business, critical and analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, collaboration and communication abilities, as well as planning and decision-making capabilities.
