The basics of procedures, processes, materials, software and equipment of additive manufacturing (AM, 3D printing). The basic current and future ways of utilization of the technologies in manufacturing industries and production chains. The basics of driving forces of utilization of technologies like the economic aspects, technical performance and potential of additive manufacturing in product design. Practical cases and applications. Future trends and potential of additive manufacturing. Basic practical demonstrations on manufacturing of parts with AM processes. Course has also invited lecturers from industry to provide basic industrial approach to AM and its applications.
The student and the teacher plan the content of the project work jointly. Project work deals with redesign of product for AM or solving some practical problem with AM. The project work topic can be given by teacher, provided by student or can also relate to any practical area of industry. After the project plan is accepted, the students do the project according to the plan. Any major deviations from the plan are discussed with the stakeholders. The project work is documented in a final project report with the results is presented in the end of the project work. Project report will be checked and accepted / rejected by teacher.
