Functional Approach to Language Teaching

Learning outcomes: After completing the course, the student - understand what is meant by functional language and functional pedagogy; - understand what is meant by language awareness; - understand the importance of language, language awareness and broad learning environments in learning, studying and working life; - understand the importance of mother tongue and multilingualism as part of a person's identity; - is able to identify and analyze linguistic practices in his / her field from the point of view of language awareness; - understand the importance of one's own subject as a Finnish language learning environment; - is able to reflect and develop his / her own pedagogy from the perspectives of functionality, functionality and language awareness.

Offering information: The course is offered both as a part of undergraduate education and as a part of the Open university education. The primary target group of Open university students are those who work in education and teaching and who encounter S2 learners in their work and, for example, public service interpreters, people who work in teaching and education and others who work in a multicultural environment.
