Introduction to educational sciences, common part

After completing the course, the student • knows the key concepts of education, training and lifelong learning • has gained an overview of research areas and methodological approaches in educational sciences • knows the basics of critical scientific thinking

Examined literature: Rinne, Kivirauma & Lehtinen “Johdatus kasvatustieteisiin” (no editions older than 2005; the last two chapters “Classical Questions and Their Performers” and “Finnish Answers” are not examined)

Timing: According to the curriculum of major or minor studies. Lectures are held in the first period of the fall semester. The student chooses the time of the online exam from the months mentioned in the Methods of Implementation. Offering data: Separate studies for a special teacher in early childhood education (VEO85), Special needs teacher training (ERLO, EO), basic studies in special education as a minor, with the right to study as a continuing learner and in the open university. Expert training in education and adult education (major and minor students, students of health sciences at the Open University and Kuopio), Teacher and career counsellor education, Teacher education (classroom teachers, home economics, handicrafts) and Teacher education in early childhood education, open university education.
