SmartNurse Methodology: Integrating Digital and Active Learning into Nursing Education : A Guide for teachers and students - learning material

In a world where digital transformation touches every corner of healthcare, nursing education must also evolve. The SmartNurse project – Developing Teachers’ and Nursing Students’ Competencies in Digital Nursing – is an Erasmus+ funded initiative led by Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) that responds directly to this global shift. Focused on Latin America, and carried out in collaboration with universities in El Salvador, Mexico, Slovenia, and Finland, the project addresses the urgent need to modernize nursing education in the face of rising chronic disease prevalence.

This e-book documents the development and outcomes of the SmartNurse Methodology, a context-sensitive educational approach designed to equip future nurses with the digital and pedagogical skills required for effective health promotion, prevention, and chronic disease management in primary care settings. Through joint curriculum development, teacher training, piloting, and continuous feedback, the project has not only updated educational content but also strengthened institutional capacity and created a sustainable network for future collaboration.
