The course is an independent entity that provides the ability to study the design and dimensioning of wooden structures in later courses.

After completing the course, the student will master the general terminology related to wood construction. He is familiar with the nature and scope of official regulations on timber construction. He is also familiar with the properties of wood as a raw material and is familiar with the basics of wood construction. The student knows the most common building materials made of wood and the different construction options for wooden houses. In addition, he is able to describe the different frame systems, prefabricated structures, CLT structures, log construction and wooden facades of wooden houses. He is also familiar with the production and house technology of houses.

Timing
The course is organized in the autumn semester, periods 1 and 2. The recommended completion time for the course is the autumn semester of the 3rd study year.

Target group
Undergraduate students in the degree program in Civil Engineering. Students interested in wood construction from other degree programs.
