The student knows the characteristics of the variation of the spoken Finnish, the situation of linguistic minorities of Finnish origin, the main features of the development of the written Finnish language, the basics of interactional linguistics, the characteristics of one genre and the basics of the field of Finnish as a second and foreign language.

Target group: Students of Open University. The course is aimed primarily at high school students, but anyone interested in the Finnish language can participate. The course can also be taken from abroad, and it is also suitable for speakers of Finnish as a foreign language who have at least a B2 language proficiency level.
