Biochemistry is a natural science that studies the chemical structure of organisms and the chemical changes that occur in them. The subjects of research are the various phenomena of life at the molecular level in humans, animals, plants and microorganisms. Research information from the field of biochemistry can be used in the development of medicines and food products and to support UN sustainable development goals (UN Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being). Introduction to biochemistry-course introduces the discipline of biochemistry, what a biochemist can do job-wise, how biochemistry can be seen in our everyday life and how biochemistry is utilized in many different fields is discussed. This course supports UN Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education. In the course, the biochemistry laboratory is virtually introduced. Cells are important biochemistry research material. The course examines the basic functions of cells and how cells are used in biochemical studies.
