Introduction to Regional Development and Regional Policy

Prerequisites and co-requisites - Recommended optional programme components Course is part of minor studies in Geography and minor studies of Regional development and regional planning.

The student is able to apply the most essential concepts of regional development and regional policy. He/she can tell the main issues, dynamics and historical progress of regional development, regional policy and regional planning of Finland and its relationship to contemporary development of European Union and at the global scale. The student is able to critically evaluate regional development and policies in terms of sustainable development.

Language of instruction Lectures are in Finnish. Material is in Finnish and English. Timing 1st year, spring semester (4th period). Target group: first year students, minor studies in geography. Common course to all 1st year students of Geography. Course is part of minor studies in Geography and minor studies of Regional Development and regional planning. Exchange students can take this course by taking the exam (extra literature for exchange students). Other information Exchange students should contact the teacher before registration.
