Clinical psychology II: Psychological disorders (OPEN UNI)

During the course, students will be introduced to mental disorders, various diagnostic classifications, assessment of disorders and related challenges, mental health treatment methods and interventions, and service systems. The aim is for the student to become familiar with the differences between individuals and their diagnosis in terms of mental, cognitive and social functions. Diagnostic assessment criteria are taught according to DSM in conjunction with ICD coding, considering complex often occurring comorbidities. Specific contents include feeding and eating disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, substance-related and addictive disorders, trauma-related disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and personality disorders. Students learn how psychological interventions may be used in contrast or in combination with psychopharmacological treatment. The use of nosology systems is critically discussed.
