Digitalisation has transformed research in the human sciences. Digital methods allow for the analysis of large amounts of data, while human scientists are needed to study a digitalising society. In this course, students will hear examples of digital humanities research from researchers in different fields. Topics include visitor images of Chernobyl and gamification as a research tool. The course will also offer perspectives on digital work-life skills.

What you will learn

On completion of the course, the student will: - be familiar with research issues, methods, and perspectives in digital humanities - become familiar with the key concepts and key data sets in digital humanities - become familiar with the digital tools used in humanities research and the theoretical and ethical underpinnings of research (e.g. in relation to open science and data) - gain an understanding of the types of human sciences research that can be produced using computer-assisted methods
